Genesis 45

I love this part of the story! What ah "ahh-ha" moment, right?!

One of my favorite parts is probably often overlooked. In verse 16: The news soon reached Pharaoh’s palace: “Joseph’s brothers have arrived!” Pharaoh and his officials were all delighted to hear this. (NLT)

We already know about the favor Joseph has received with Pharaoh. But Scripture records that both Pharaoh and his leaders were delighted. Not tolerant. Not "pleased for Joseph." DELIGHTED.

To me, this speaks of the impact we can have as believers upon non-believers. Even our unbelieving bosses, leaders, goverment officials, etc. Joseph had made such an impact in their lives, more than just a boss/worker relationship, that they were delighted at the good turn of events in his life.

To make it personal: Do I live my daily life in such as way that those around me DELIGHT over events in my life?

I just love how Joseph calmed their fears. We all know that part of the story but how often do we hold on to hurt even when we can clearly see the reason God had and how he used it for good?

I can't totally understand how his father must have felt, after years of beleiving a child was dead it would be beyond simple emotion to deal with finding the child again...

I agree with the previous post that there is a reason we see joy in the Egyptians too... good witness:)

I loved the theme of God's sovreignty repeated over and over in this chapter. *God* sent me. To see God's plan of redemption starting amidst the pain of jealousy, hatred, betrayal... taking a young man through many trials, to build a solid character out of him and raise him up for the right moment, the right place, the right person for God to use. Amazing.
