oh. my. goodness.
Josiah certainly had a lot of work to do. Could there have BEEN more high places/altars/temples/etc to take down? wow.
And after all that, after his heart for God, after being "no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might...", he dies and the sons who succeed(?) him are, again, evil in the sight of the Lord *sigh* how sad.

So, I got my copy of "Family Driven Faith" (doing what it takes to raise sons and daughters who walk with God) yesterday and read the first chapter. It was very hard hitting and confirmed alot of what I have been concerned about regarding raising children who are unwaivering in their faith.

Reading about Jehoahaz here, really brought it home again. It doesn't matter that *you* are a believer, it doesn't matter that *you* clean house spiritually in your own life. What *you* believe or do, or experience, does not get magically passed on to your child. It only gets passed on if you are intentionally devoting yourself to training them up in righteousness. It must be the driving factor of your relationship and desires for them.

You see so many people in scripture who are passionate on a personal level, but are so busy doing BIG things for God that their children fall through the cracks and grow up rebellious and apathetic to the faith of their fathers. Eli had wicked sons, as did most of the faithful kings, as did David, as did Solomon.

I think I am going to blog about this extensively my brain is spinning far too fast to fit into a comment over here.
