Exodus 3

v 6 Come no closer. Show me the honor due a king, watch your step. this attitude always seems so "understandable", I mean, He is GOD after all. But put that in contrast to the 'Father' presented to us in the NT... 'Abba'... 'Dad' and you are bowled over. All the holiness and mightiness of the OT suddenly serves to show us how priviledged we are to be called His children and to have full access to, not only His throne, but His LAP.

7b "I am concerned about their pain." Even then, He was so loving, so nurturing, indeed such a Father. He didn't change, He just progressively revealed more and more of His incredible love as time passed, even now, we don't have a clue of the love and glory to be revealed.

v19 "I know he will not let you go. Only a great power will force him to let you go." I found it interesting to read this and ponder sovreignty and God's working through man, maybe even a little election, but I won't go there. Just the fact that other verses show that God hardened Pharaoh's heart and we sometimes make much of that. But this verse shows foreknowledge (of course) as to Pharaoh's initial attitude that confronted the situation. God was dealing wiht an already hard heart. He didn't take a soft and submissive (to the Lord) man and turn him into a tyrant. The man *was* a tyrant already and God used his tyranny to glorify His own power and might.
