Exodus 39

There is this HUGE mystery that haunts me (okay not really haunts but you get my drift) when it comes to the Tabernacle and the New Jerusalem, the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 apostles and then lastly the 24 elders around the throne (12+12=24, somehow representing redeemed Israel (tribes) and Church (apostles)?). I know there is something (more than one something) HUGE there but it is beyond my reach to see.

"And the names of the 12 sons of Israel were carved on these twelve jewels as a person carves a seal. Each jewel had the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel." v14

Then look at Revelation;

"and on each gate was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel." v12

"The walls of the city were built on twelve foundation stones and on the stones were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." v14

"Around the throne were twenty four other thrones with twenty four elders sitting on them (see 2:26 where Jesus promises to give power and rule to the overcoming saints (all overcoming saints) at Thyatira. They were dressed in white (white robes promised to the saints in Sardis and all saints who persevere in 3:5) and had golden crowns on their heads (see 2:10 for a promise of the crown of life to the saints at Smyrna).

I love stuff like this. It's like a cryptic code waiting to reveal some deep, mysterious and glorious truth of how God has fore-ordained and redeemed through the ages. It's awesome even if I am left fumbling around in the dark.

Sorry for going nutso... but this is the kind of stuff that I can spend entire days delving into. Totally lights my fire. This is when I wake up and remember that GOD inspired this book and it the secrets and mysteries that are hidden here for the one who will seek and dig and desire more of God's revelation is exciting and amazing beyond my wildest imaginings.

mmm, very interesting indeed. I can't wait until God reveals all these "mysteries" to us - how exciting that will be!

I am amazed at what that craftmanship must have looked like - gold that was hammered out and cut into threads. Yikes. And stones that had the names of the tribes carved into them. Yikes again. Amazing.
