Two thoughts...

I love the importance put in this chapter about forgiveness and how it keeps us from falling into traps of Satan. YES discipline is important but truely only successful if combined with love and forgiveness and I feel the real love Paul had for this person caught in sin.

Second...

As someone who has no sence of smell and was born that way I always found this verse very interesting,

'For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.'

I wouldn't mind you opinions on this verse as it has always been one that makes me stop and look over it a couple times:)

I also really was moved by verses 5-11 and what they had to share about forgiveness. It reminded me of the book "The Bait of Satan" by John Bevere, how offense and unforgiveness in our lives is like "taking the bait" of Satan.

I also *love* verse 14b. "God uses us to spread his knowledge everywhere like a sweet smelling perfume." How beautiful! Do you remember the "smell" of one of your favourite people? I remember the smell of my Gramma's perfume. Her chewing gum. Her handsoap. So tangent and heady to me, because so many wonderful emotions are tied up in and around her.

I think the verse is referring to something like that. When we reflect Christ, we are permeating these earthly halls with a heavenly aroma that can only be appreciated by those who *love* what is heavenly. But something like that testimony I shared about Ingersoll the other day, what is beautiful to someone living in the light of eternity is morbid and unfathomable to someone living with only thoughts for the moment.

That's the way I see it anyway.
