v 1-3. Whoah Nellie. Not sure I realized David was married to so many. Then all the slave women it talks about a bit further down. Wierd. The whole Bathsheba thing, and all these wives, and counting his soldiers, etc paired with the "a man after God's own heart" thing just drive home the fact that I believe it's not about how we "measure up" but more about how we "wish" we measured up. The Lord looks upon the heart. If I long to do right, but do wrong, that's where mercy reigns. If I despise what's right, and do wrong, that's where that relational chasm comes into play.

lol - oh yeah, he had a *few* wives/concubines to say the least. Funny how he set the pattern for his son Solomon who ended up being worse than his father (in the area of multiple wives)
