The first two verses are something we should exersise... another way of counting blessings, we could also include counting or making note aloud of his wonderful deeds.

I really appreciate my lake of true understanding when it comes to the 18th verse. We so easily ignore the poor... humans have always found it easy not to empathis with the needy because we don't even admitt they are there often... God has never ignored them. They have a special place in his heart.

yeah. I love what you said about re-counting His wonderful deeds. In our church in Italy this was a central part of the service, together with the central aspect of the Lord's table. I miss the structure of the service there so much, it was truly Christ and God centred. Here it's so "man" centred. Once you've tasted of one it's really hard to swallow the other.

Oops, I meant to comment on my notes from yesterday, But those who have troubles wilnot be forggotten. The hopes of the poor will never die. Lord, rise up and judgeethe nations. Don't let people think th arstrong. Teach them to fear you Lord, The nations must learn that they are only human." vv18-20

this really ties in with what I have been contemplating about the beatitudes as well. Blessed are the poor and needy, because they sense their need of God. And the non-needy don't even realize the true source of all they feel so secure in and thus are wretched because they do not allow God to draw near them and enrich them with His goodness.
