Luke 7

John's question in verse 19 "Are you the Messiah?" just such a stark contrast to his bold declaration of "Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world!" from the banks of the Jordan river some months (years?) earlier. It amazes me how the most rock solid faith, given and proven from above doesn't ensure that we won't have our "walking on water" moments as Peter did and fear we are drowning even as our lifesaver is within arms reach, indeed wrapped snugly around our waists.

I love the message that Jesus sent to John in verse 23. "Blessed are those who do not stumble in their faith because of me." Certainly, the Jews had an idea of the Messiah they were expecting. Jesus didn't exactly fit their paradigm. But for those who had the humility and tenderness to look, listen, receive, believe, to those He proffered the kingdom. Because indeed His kingdom is one of humility and tenderness.

I also love verse 50 to the "sinful woman". "Because you believed you are saved from your sins. Go in peace." Oh how I love that. Another life verse.
