I love seeing the faithfulness of God here in this chapter. He promises that the items from the temple that have been removed to Babylon will be restored to the temple. My Bible says that this promise was fulfilled in Ezra 5&6, when the vessels were returned (in 516/515 B.C.).

Seeing the ways that God makes good His promises in the Bible is a good reminder to me to look back to my own experience and the ways that God has provided for me and my family.

So good to have you back! What I loved about this chapter is that it so powerfully showed the sovreignty of God. He puts powers in their place, He annoints them and uses them, He tears them down, He takes away, He gives. I love the twist on the same thing you outlined. He mocks the political advisors who say the Babylonians will return what they took and calls them false and misguided (v16-18) but then reitterates that actually the stuff that was left behind will get taken away as well, and it will ALL stay gone until the day that God decides it is time for HIM to bring them back. (v22-23) Awesome!

So amazing to be called children of the sovreign Lord, to receive His promises and to know He is good and His rule is eternal and over all.
