this is such a beautiful letter. I love how much Paul loves Onesimus, especially when he says:
"I have sent him back to you in person, that is, sending my very heart, whom I wished to keep with me..." v12.

I also love how Paul *could* order Philemon to forgive Onesimus, but rather relies on Philemon's heart, knowing that his friend will do what's right and then some.

May we all have hearts like these for each other - quick to love and quick to forgive.

I LOVE my devotional intro to this letter;

"Paul doesn't ask Philemon to free Onesimus from slavery, but to free him from anger. He urges Philemon to offer grace rather than demand justice. Does this short letter have any application for your life? It does if there is an Onesimus in your world. It does if someone has betrayed you or offended you or turned away from you. What they did wasn't right. And to demand justice is only natural, which is precisely the problem. Getting even is natural, it's not spiritual." Max Lucado
