2 Chronicles 35

I love it when one sentence ties in to something we read yesterday, like the reference to the temple that Solomon built. I love it when OT passages shed light on things we know from the NT, like all of these commands regarding passover. I think I may finally be starting to understand something that I have wondered about for a long time. In the NT it talks about the priests sacrificing these passover lambs at the time that Christ was crucified. I always wondered how that fit in with Christ already haven eaten the passover lamb with his disciples the night before. I know that some people say it's possible he ate a premature passover meal, which was the case for some sects of Judaism, but in light of this passage it seems to be showing that the lambs sacrificed at the temple were for the purpose of burnt sin offerings... not for eating.

So this would make me think there are two passover lambs? One killed and roasted by the family, as per the Exodus instructions, and then this "sin offering" that was brought to the temple and offered by the priests.

So sorry when Josiah decided to pick his own battle, a battle that God did not assign him, and it was his downfall. May we learn from that.

I loved the very last verse. "It tells how he loved what was written in the Lord's teachings."

I want to be known for that. For loving God's word. For desiring it more than my daily bread, for feeding on it, being strengthened by it and being made wise and Christlike through it. It is also my desire for all of you.

that was quite a passover celebration. Still, every time I read about these sacrifices, my mind is boggled at the sheer amount of slaughtering that they had to do. It amazes me. And it makes me so thankful for the grace extended to us.
