Esther 2

Esther is such a... different.... book. It brings up lots of questions. Did God SEND her to the palace where she would be prepped for and spend a night of seduction with a king that was not her husband in order to gain his favor and become his queen... or did God take her situation (which you wouldn't think of as a righteous one) and turn it around for His good purposes.

I'm guessing two, but I don't know. God's sovreignty and the good things He can accomplish through our stupid choices always amazes me. I don't get Mordecai encouraging her into that position. I don't get a lot of it, but I do get how she was used for God's eventual purposes whatever the case may be. Maybe that's the point. He will use who He will use and His ways are higher than our ways?

I have always liked this book. It really is a book! A story! But it would be a lot handier if we could have access to info on their thoughts and hearts more often... then we would know more about who Esther really was in God. I appreciate her loyalty to her people.
