"You will not cause your nation to fall anymore..." v15

"This is what the Lord God says: Israel, I am going to act, but not for your sake." I will do something to help my holy name, which you have dishonored..."v22-23

"I want you to know that I am not going to do this for your sake... be ashamed and embarrassed about your ways, Israel." v32

This chapter is so inductive of how it really is all about God. It reminds me of one of Lou Sutera's main points when he did his seminar at our church last year. Everything that God does, the way He works everything out is not about us, but about HIM. About His will, His glory, His plan, His sovereignty, His majesty.

God is not going to do all of this for Israel (indeed, this chapter is still prophetic of the future, I believe, the millennial future, since none of this has ever been true of Israel yet since the time of this prophecy) for Israel's glory, or for His great love for Israel (even though He does have great love for Israel, that is not the motivating factor of what He is going to do). He is going to do that His name might be revered and glorified among His people and among the nations.

I think so often we get a topsy turvy view/impression of God's love. In so many books I read I hear God's love being used as an argument to "value" oneself. You mean so much to Him, He loves you with such a passionate love, you are worth so much! But that is not the point of God's love at all! The point of God's love is that God IS love. That HE is loving, despite who, what, how WE are. It's all about Him. It should inspire awe and praise and passion for who HE is, not serve to puff up our own egos!

Great, great chapter. So worship inducing. God is good. God is love. God is just. God is awesome. And that is what it all comes down to.
