"There rejoice before the Lord your God. Everyone should rejoice: you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants..."

Rejoice: to be glad, happy, or delighted; be full of joy.

This is a characteristic that God desires us to have in our worship. Somehow it saddens me how as a culture we are more reserved in our worship than we are in our enthusiasm over extracurricular pursuits. We have no problem hooting and hollering at sports events, but hold back so much in our worship of the God of Wonders Beyond Our Galaxy.

In vs. 2-3 God wants the Israelites to destroy everything that might tempt them to worship idols.
So we too should remove any centers of false worship - anything that tempts us to turn our hearts from God and do wrong. These could be activities, attitudes, possessions, relationships, places or habits. We should never flatter ourselves by thinking we're too strong to be tempted!

And PC I agree that we could be more enthusiastic in our worship of our HOLY GOD. I know I've come a long way in the last 10 years and it feels great.
