Job 23

When I read verses 8-9;

"If I go to the east, God is not there; if I go to the west, I do not see Him. When He is at work in the north, I catch no sight of Him; when He turns to the south I can not see Him... but I am not hidden by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face."

it brought to mind Psalm 139:7-12

"Where can I go to get away from your Spirit? where can I run from you? If I go up tot he heavens, you are there. If I lie down in the grave, you are there. If I rise with the sun in the east and settle in the west beyond the sea, even there you would guide me. With your right hand you would hold me. I could say, "The darkness will hide me. Let the light around me turn into night." But even the darkness is not dark to you. The night is as light as the day; darkness and light are the same to you."

It's like the two passages working together show us that even when we feel enveloped in utter darkness, with no sign or sight of God, He is there, and while we can't sense Him, in essence, we can't "lose" Him, because He holds us in the palm of His hand and we can't be lost by Him. And all our darkness is an illusion, because in Him there is no darkness and He will make all things beautiful in His time.
