God gave such specific promises to David concerning his kingdom and his legacy. I sometimes wonder what that would be like, to have God give specific and direct promises to me. I mean, we have promises that we can cling to in the Bible, but how amazing to have God speak directly to you a promise that is specifically for you.
Must have been truly amazing and humbling.

"who am I?" v16. That pretty much climaxed this chapter for me. who are we indeed that the Lord should love us, forgive us, save us, pour His mercy out upon us and call us His children. It's not about who we are. It's about who He is. His love is amazing.

I can learn so much from God's promise to David and David's response. David's humility at God declining his offer to build a temple for him was, at the very least, relieving, and on the high end, a mature response... David could see the mercy God was showing him, and the kindness toward his future generations. I think I'm going to consciously begin to pray for my kids' kids' kids' kids (if we get that far) to continue to be faithful and obedient to God... what a difference one faithful person can make through the power of God!!
