Mark 16

I don't wonder that no one believed Mary M right off the bat- she had previously been possessed before, so people were used to her doing strange and terrible things already, but how frustrating for Mary!

vs.16 was just mentioned in a controversial article concerning a minister who is leading people astray with the belief that hell may not really be eternal and that heaven may include everyone... such dangerous teaching!! We have to be so vigilant to seek out the truth.

vs. 17-18 is a little disturbing- we don't see these signs in our culture... what does that mean? Is our lack of faith and use of God's power the reason our message is not as compelling?

I've heard, and I believe it has proven itself to be a valid observation through history, that these signs and wonders and miracles accompanied the gospel as confirming signs when it was/is a completely new concept. But where the gospel has already been shared those kind of acts recede and the spirit in us is to testify to the truth. You see this as a reality when missionaries take the gospel into previously unreached areas even today. There are strong demon forces at play there, the gospel is unheard of and the gospel is accompanied by great signs and wonders. I am so glad that my homeschooling curriculum includes so many biographies of missionaries in different cultures and what their lives are like. If my children had to model their lives after only what they see in our culture, it would be pretty drab.

"And he told them,'Go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone, everywhere.Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.'"v 15-16

It feels good to know that we will be saved but I feel sorry for those who never got to hear about Jesus and God and died without any chance of hearing about God.During school I have been learning about China and how there is so many people who haven't or can't hear about God and can't be saved,we have been praying a lot for them that they would be able to hear God's word and would spread it.

"Do not be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. But He has risen! He is not here! See the place where they had put Him. vs-6

Jesus can do anything, He can even rise from the dead, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day just as he said he would. Jesus not only can rise from the dead, He can do anything He wants to. He did not die because He wanted to, He died because he loved us.
