Josh 3:5 "Make yourselves holy, because tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."
If I want God to be able to do the amazing things He wants to do in my life, I need to prepare myself for it. I need to surrender myself to what He has in mind and as Mark Driscoll puts it, get ready to tandem pedal with him. When He pushes the one pedal, I need to be ready to push the other, and together and only together will we make headway against the sin in my life.
Josh 3:15 "During harvest the Jordan overflows its banks".
I will always remember seeing that video footage of the banks of the Jordan River in Sunday School and understanding what it meant for those priests to step into that river. They weren't wading in, they were stepping into water that was above their heads! I love that picture. Step out in faith, even if the water is over your head.
yes - it always amazes me that they would do that - the courage that they must have had to take that first step. I always wonder what would have been going through their minds - did they hesitate? or did they have complete faith and just walked right in?
2 Chr. 10:
this chapter always makes me a little sad - how Rehoboam listens to poor advice instead of wise advice, and how it is the beginning of the divided kingdom.
The language that Rehoboam's friends use is actually kind of appalling. "My little finger is thicker than my father's loins" - it's so...disrespectful.
