Genesis 6

6 He was sorry he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain

"8 But Noah pleased the Lord.

What an honor to be singled out from the masses and counted as one who pleases the Lord rather than one whose self consumed lifesyle pains his heart. This is my heart's cry.

Judges 2:7 "The people served the Lord during the lifetime of Joshua and during the lifetimes of the elders who lived after Joshua and who had seen what great things the Lord had done for Israel."

10 "After those people had died, their children grew up and did not know the Lord or what he had done for Israel.11 So they did what the Lord said was wrong, and they worshiped the Baal idols.12 They quit following the Lord, the God of their ancestors who had brought them out of Egypt. They began to worship the gods of the people who lived around them, and that made the Lord angry."

This is the premise behind a kids discipleship program I am going to be starting in our church in a few weeks. When we have people building into our lives, teaching us, showing us by example what it means to seek the Lord wholeheartedly and surrender our lives, it's one thing. We are gently led to be "David's" with hearts that hunger and thirst for God and righteousness. But that is only the start. That is how you spoon feed babies in the faith. A good disciple will take learn to take the spoon, feed themselves and equip themselves to in turn build into someone else. If our faith walk slowly crumbles when the one who has been feeding us and training us is removed from the picture, there is a problem. We need to be trained up in the way we should go, keep striving for a greater maturity and we need to in turn equip ourselves to equip others to be equipped to carry on equipping others. This is discipleship. Being a disciple, and learning to disciple. Every person needs both in order for faith to thrive and grow and spread.

Psalm 31:19 How great is your goodness...

20 You protect them by your presence

21 Praise the Lord. His love to me was wonderful

24 All you who put your hope in the Lord be strong and brave.

Isaiah 35:8 A road will be there;
this highway will be called "The Road to Being Holy."

This life is like a workout regime. You don't just find your groove and settle in, we should always be pushing ourselves to the next level... challenging ourselves with a higher pursuit, going for gold. Or should I say going for God.

Isaiah 35
“This chapter is a beautiful picture of the final Kingdom in which God will establish his justice and destroy all evil. This is the world the redeemed can anticipate after the judgment when creation itself will rejoice in God. Chapter 34 spoke of great distress when God will judge all people for their actions. Chapter 35 pictures the days when life will be peaceful at last and everything will be made right. Carmel and Sharon were regions of thick vegetation and fertile soil. They were symbols of productivity and plenty.”

I love the millenium. It's like a little taste of heaven on earth before the eternal state. I am walking on clouds lately with rapture/millenium thoughts as it is the topic in Sunday School, my ladies bible study and many of our recent passages. He is coming. All will be shaken and all will be changed. Oh glorious day.

John 19. This whole part about Pilate provides a lot of brain fodder. It makes me think back to a situation where I was second guessing myself on "did God REALLY ask me to do that, and if He did, why did it go SO bad..." and make the other person SO furious and wound me so deeply... but in hind sight, 9 months or so later, with the gaping wound closed up a little bit I can see how it has changed me. Back in the day I thought that God wanted to say something to the other person. Maybe He did, that is not for me to say, but today what I can see is that He wanted to show me something for future reference, for "such a time as this". Now when I have someone ELSE in my life I am a little bit wiser as to how to proceed with caution and awareness. Actually not proceed at all unless the person comes to the point of literally begging me to share my own thoughts/experiences. Because they have the kind of personality that anything else would be viewed with anger and resentment. And now, with the whole once bitten, twice shy type thing, I am able to be aware of that and not do or say something that would get me cut off and ruin my chances of having a lasting and beneficial relationship with this person.

Long story, but neccesary to make this point. Pilate could have beaten himself up for life about not "stopping" what happened. And yet it was God's will for it to happen, God WANTED Pilate to condemn Jesus even though Jesus was innocent and the crucifixion, from a logistic standpoint was ALL WRONG. But this is the amazing thing, sometimes God moves us down what seems to be the WRONG path for the RIGHT reasons. For the sake of our future, our growth and our good.
