2 Samuel 1 "Today some people consider expressing emotions to be a sign of weakness. Those who wish to appear strong try to hide their feelings."

This has always been a mystery to me. To me, the people who are really strong are the ones who are not afraid to show emotion. I'm not talking "showy" emotion. But not feeling the manly thing to do is rein in all display of emotion.

jer 24 I was struck by how God referred to the exiles that would turn and respond to him with softened hearts as "good figs" even though they had not been obedient to Him up until then. The lyrics to; "We are more than the choices that we make, we are more than the sum of our past mistakes, we are more than the problems we create, we've been remade" came to mind.

I like this from my notes: "We may assume we are blessed when life gos well and cursed when it does not but trouble is a blessing when it makes us stronger and prosperity is a curse when it entices us away from God."

Ezekiel 18 I've been thinking and talking lately about how our parents belief system, or lack of one, can shape us to a wrong belief system without us even knowing it. We need to be so cautious to continuously look to the word and allow ourselves to be shaped and conformed to GOD'S truth and image, not the one that society impresses upon us. We are responsible for how we think. We are responsible to examine truth and examine ourselves in light of it. We will answer to God for the choices WE make and the lives WE live. There will be no blame shifting or "ifs ands and buts". We have the power to know, choose and follow the paths of God.
