you know, I totally missed how this was the beginning of the Israelites enslavement in Egypt. I always kind of took them as two separate stories - one about Joseph, and then another about the Israelites.
I found it so interesting that God promised Jacob right away that He would make him a great nation there, but would also bring him mout of Egypt. Right away God promised that they would not be there forever, that He would deliver them. And He did. I love stories about how God fulfills His promises.

yeah. I was thinking about the whole slavery aspect to. And how God said "Go." and "Don't be afraid to go." and "I will do great things for you through this." Wow. wonder if the Israelite slaves were having second thoughts about the authenticity of *that* message. Wouldn't we? I mean, if the going gets *that* bad, we musta heard wrong, huh? makes me think of a quote I read somewhere recently... hmmm, let me pop away and see if I can track it down... ah, yes, it was from Ann at Holy Experience of course... everything she says impacts me it seems;

"Habitual escapism, when the heat of life gets turned up, circumvents the efficacy of the Refiner’s Fire.

It's why I cook in the pressure cooker: to dramatically lessen the cooking time. Pessure does the work faster than the slower means of low boiling, steam escaping from lid. And isn't that why living in a pressure cooker does His work faster in me?"

Bring on the heat. We may squirm, but we will mature.
