My study note comments that while the result of Joseph's policies was servitude for the people of Egypt, they did not view Joseph as a tyrant but as a savior.
Life became very simple and straight forward for the people of Egypt. Stay free and die or belong to the Pharaoh and eat.
I make my life too complex and get caught up in things that I am "free" to follow, and then He reminds me that I belong to Him.

I don't think I ever realised that after helping put up the stores of grain etc., the people then had to BUY the food. For some reason I thought that it was just there for them all to have as needed.
MAN, did Joseph EVER CLEAN UP on this deal! I can't believe that at the end of all this he/pharoah owned EVERYTHING (and everyone). wow.

My brain ran off on quite a few tangents reading this chapter yesterday (born out of the reading, but not directly related so I didn't feel peace about sharing any of them. I'm in a contemplative stage right now and need to sort through my thoughts internally and alone with Him.

I'm still here, still reading, still reaching.
