"You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord make me dwell in safety." Psalm4:7 & 8

I love this verse! The Lord alone is our protector and blesses us with peaceful sleep. He fills our heart with greater joy than earthly things can provide. Thank the Lord for that. If the only joy we experienced in the life came from stuff we would be pretty empty people. He comes and fills us with a joy that is not temporary but eternal!

"People, how long will you turn my honor into shame? How long will you love what is false and look for new lies? You know tht the Lord has chosen for Himself those who are loyal to him." vv 2-3

From my reading in Family Driven Faith last night;

>>While we can all understand the serious nature of an extramarital affair, we often fail to realize that allegiance to God's spiritual rivals is no different.

A family without a commitment to the God of the Bible has no hope of stemming the tide of cultural onslaught. If we mix a little biblical truth, a little secular psychology, a little romance novel ideology, and a little eastern mysticism, we will get a deadly mixture of lies... (many christian families) do marriage according to Dr. Phil, raise our children according to Dr. Spock, govern our sex lives according to Dr. Ruth and only run to Dr. Jesus when things have gotten so bad we can't find another doctor to help us. <<

"Think about these things quietly as you go to bed." v4

What am I thinking about as I go to bed? Am I pondering the word of the Lord with a quiet spirit. Revelling in His attributes and faithfulness, and truths? Or am I so scatterbrained thinking about earthly pursuits or concerns, or too exhausted from these pursuits to even acknowledge His presence and workings in my day?

"I go to bed and sleep in peace, because, Lord, only You keep me safe. v8

This is one of my favorite verses in the bible too Leanne. I love how it puts us to rest in His sovreignty. He keeps us safe. We are in His hands. He is in control. He is Lord of everything. Stunning.

There have been times in my life where the verse about going to bed was the only comfort that could calm me down enough to go to sleep. I have been so thankful for the knowledge that I can sleep soundly in HIM:)
