Isaiah 47

I didn't realize that I didn't get back here yesterday to post my notes. Here they are;

v5-6. Rejected his people *because of His grace* and desire for their repentance...handing them over to captivity, all the while being opposed to their captor. He is so much bigger than my little brain.

v14b "like coals that give warmth or a fire that you may sit beside." this is a beautiful metaphor of the kind of person I want to be. so many things come to mind from this one simple sentence, I pondered it all day.

v15 In the end (which could be today, important to keep that thought ever present), I will stand stripped of all earthly trappings and distractions before my maker. All of my earthly pursuits will be weighed in the balance as to their SPIRITUAL value. Not so that I may be judged righteous or un. My righteousness is found in Him alone. But my priorities and treasures and passions will pass through the fire, and only what was done for heavenly glory will stand the flame.

oh, I hadn't written this down, but it just came back to me. Yesterday I was thinking, "Am I fighting to reach the "podium" or am I just happy that I've made it to the Olympic venue? In a spiritual sense, do you kwim? Jesus gets us in. We are given the official "robe of righteousness" and the "pass". But the medals (crowns) we receive are hinged not to what Christ has done for us.... but to how we perform as spiritual olympians. Now I am not saying I am convinced these are literal crowns, or anything like that, Personally I lean literal but I'm not going to get hung up on that... it's the principle that matters. If you are faithful, you will receive, if you endure, if you.....

I brushed across alot of talk from people who don't like to put ANY focus on our behavior. Who want to focus entirely on FREEDOM, and how great it is and not talk about "bondservanthood" and what that looks like. Just got me thinking of the whole Olympian allegory again.
