I thought this was fascinating...

"Then they sent messengers through all the land to tell the news to their idols..."

What pathetic "gods" are these who know nothing of earthly happenings without being "told" the latest from their people. When there is the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient God of the universe, sovreign over all.

Wow. Everytime I read this chapter it reminds me of a heavy scene in a historical medevil novel...

I always feel a sharp pain when I read Jonathan died with his dad and brothers because he had set his heart aside for the Lord and it was his dad who broke faith with God, not him.

It reminds me that the Lord will do it in his time. David had to wait a long time to be kind and Saul had to live a long time with his bitter heart but God doesn't stop paying attention to the just and the unjust...

Such a bitter end to this man... it is sad, like a wasted life...
