what a full chapter.

"Your heart will be where your treasure is." (34)

Where is my treasure? in my earthly home, earthly pleasure, earthly relationships, or in their heavenly counterparts?

35-37. I love living with a spirit of anticipation. Like the feeling when you are waiting for the arrival of your betrothed with baited breath. You know he's due any moment, but could be "delayed" or could arrive early, and you just live in constant anticipation of his arrival. This is how I seek to anticipate the arrival of my heavenly bridegroom. Many times when I look out my south window I will have this constricting of my chest, thinking what it would be like if he arrived RIGHT now.

45-48 was very sobering. Those who have been given insight into the ways of the Lord but don't live accordingly are going to be judged severely, although those with little understanding who commit the same errors will be treated with grace.

49-53 is interesting in light of the common theme of "peace and unity" that fall over the Christmas season. There is no peace on earth, if not for His spiritual peace, and darkness can not be united with light. All the more reason to anticipate Him, the true harbinger of peace and unity.
