Eph 4

"And God gave me the work of telling all people about the plan for His secret, which has been hidden in Him since the beginning of time. He is the One who created everything. His purpose was that through the church all the rulers and powers in the heavenly world will now know God's wisdom, which has so many forms. This agrees with the purpose God had since the beginning of time..." vv 9-11a

This passage just left me breathless. It is one of those verses that opens the door a crack and gives us a peek into the abyss of infinite magnificence that is the mind of our God, wider and deeper by far than anything we have viewed of our own galaxy and universe. That He foreknew all of this. That all this *mess* was part of His plan, not for the messes sake, but for redemption's sake. For the "praise of His glorious grace"... poured out on a people He chose and loved, redeemed, and sanctifies. A church that He is building to reflect all of His goodness and grace, to love Him in return and to revel in His eternal and remarkable glory.

I can't take my eyes off that one sentence;

His purpose was that *through the church all the rulers and powers in the heavenly world will now know God's wisdom*, which has so many forms.

I know He uses broken vessels, I know He is glorified in our weaknesses, I know He turns failures into successes... I know there are amazing men and women of faith scattered all around this globe... I know that as a whole the corporate body of believers reflects Him... but at the same time, I wonder how short we fall, on more localized levels, to living in light of this verse.

I pray that we (as a church) do reflect God's wisdom. Reflect His fruit. Reflect His mandate to pursue righteousness in a perverse generation. Reflect His "not of this world-ness". Reflect His passion and purpose. His eternal purpose. It would alter the way we live remarkably.
