"As surely as the Lord lives, He has saved me from all trouble!" v9

I love how David is never wanting to step on God's toes. So trusting that God is sovreign and will bless Him if He trusts and obeys.

The Old Testament is certainly bloody.

But David certainly had an honorable heart and a fear and respect for the Lord. God had chosen Saul to be king, and even though Saul had lost the presence of the Lord, David still acknowledges God's choice. I love how right up to the end he refuses to have any part in the taking of Saul's life, or the lives of any of his descendants.

I think that I could use a healthy dose of that respect concerning our church leaders sometimes.
