"Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the Lord who is with you...Thus you shall do in the fear of the Lord, faithfully and wholeheartedly."

I think I would do well to apply those verses to my everyday - being at home, being at work, working from home...all my jobs and responsibilities I should be remembering that I am doing them as to the Lord, who is with me, faithfully and wholeheartedly.

"Why do you love those who hate the Lord? that is the reason the Lord is angry with you." v 2

I've been thinking lately about motive and how essential it is to judging whether our choices are good or wrong. In this case for instance, it obviously couldn't have been referring to him loving these worldly people with pure, Godly love, and whose motive was to pray and desire their repentance and turning to the Lord. No, he must have been "loving" them, in loving their lifestyle and fitting right in with them, and essentially being one of them. I want to have the first kind of love for people. For everyone. A love that desires their best, which can only come from right relationship and intmacy with God. A love that desires their maturity past all the worldly influences that self centeredly serve to drag us away from just such intimacy.

"...you must warn the people not to sin against teh Lord. If you don't, He will be angry with you...but if you warn them, you won't be guilty." v10

What a responsibility. What a weighty responsibility. We are called to love people enough to speak truth into their lives. This is SO hard! I know I have a couple of friendships in my life where I need to be honest about a couple of things but it's like pulling teeth to actually get up the courage and humility necessary to do it.

"Have courage." v11

Fitting. We need it.
