"the twelve apostles called the whole gropu of followers together and said, "It is not right for us to stop our work of teaching God's word in order to serve tables. so, brothers and sisters, choose seven of your own men who are good, full of the spirit and full of wisdom. we will put them in charge of this work. then we can continue to pray and to teach the word of God." v2-4

We set up our hierarchies of pastor, elder, deacon, etc... but RARELY do we see churches really embracing this important realization. We want the pastor to "do it all". Oh for a pastor to be able to devote himself to preaching and teaching and prayer and for the other acts of service and administration to rest on the shoulders of another. I think it is one of our biggest weaknesses and we all suffer because we don't bite the bullet and change our way of viewing ministry to line up with this simple truth.
