Titus 2

Didn't make it here all day to comment on this, although I had good intentions. It was an awesome chapter and hubs and I had great discussion based on it. I don't have my bible here now, and don't remember the specific verses but we were both very struck by how the pastor was to be direct and tell the people how to live appropriately. No pussyfooting around, just really urging people to be influencers to those beneath them in their spiritual walk.

There is a dearth of authority and spiritual parenting in this culture. It's so sad and results in such a pathetic and apathetic segregated body of believers. Not pathetic in their own rights, but pathetic as a body. We just aren't being real with each other, challenging each other, rooting for one another, praying for one another. It's every man for himself and we're not scoring many winning points as a team.

What I loved about this chapter is that it brought out discipleship in such a clear and concise way. Our sermon this week asked "who influences you?" who has built into you, who speaks Christ's truth to you... and Prairie Guy and I both thought that the question should be much more direct than that. I can't do anything about who is or isn't influencing me... the ball is not in my court. Actually, when we seriously tried to answer that question in the vehicle on the way home we both had to say, in all honesty? No one right now. And we have even tried to REQUEST more input from more mature people in our lives, but with no response.

So the real question should be who are WE influencing? We all should be concerned to be fulfilling Christ's mandate of discipleship, from the oldest to youngest of us. There is always someone a few paces back of us who need a hurran, a hug and moral support. Not to mention someone to stand in the gap for them and love them through the trials of life.

Discipleship is key. This chapter shows us how it plays out.
