2 Samuel 20

Whoah. A little too tetosterone packed for me this morning. Rebellion, uprising, gore... Looks to me like David was "losing it", not in a good state of mind (locking his wives up in a house and staying away from them)... and that Sheba planned to attack him in his apparent weakness and take over. Only David smelled trouble and nipped it in the bud. Violently and adamantly.

I guess what it makes me think of is the lust for power, and how we shouldn't delight in another's suffering to better ourselves, but we should do everything in our power to build them up and support them.

I was a little appalled by Joab here. How does he manage to murder the commander appointed by David in plain sight, and then get all the men to follow him unquestioningly. And then get to be commander again, and David says nothing?
David locked up only the concubines/wives that he had left behind, and who had then "been" with Absalom. Probably understandable, but harsh. Wasn't their fault.
I'm a little concerned about David's lack of leadership, and how things seem to be falling apart around him.
