Acts 19

v 6 stood out to me, I think mainly because we were just discussing speaking in tongues in home group.

"Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied" (v6).

"Few issues have prompted more argument and confusion or split more churches. We should remember that tongues-speaking is not the central theme of the book of Acts. The point of Luke's history is the faithful communication of the gospel to the ends of the earth. If we want to be doers of the Word, we will faithfully be involved in the same process of evangelism. Seek to share your faith in the power of the Holy Spirit and leave it up to God to give you whatever experiences he thinks you need."

I have to shamefully admit that I missed a prime opportunity last night to speak of my faith.

Interesting how these people worked up into a tizzy about protecting their god, he he he, they where worried more about the financial end of idol worship then there god itself and what a great god needing to be protected by the people who make it out of wood and other elements.

"Because of his work, every Jew and Greek in the country of Asia heard the word of the Lord." v10

Wow. Just.... wow.

I love how they burned the magic books. After reading that passage at a younger age I was convicted to burn all my Danielle Steele books. *grin*. Love it. Love the flame of passion and devotion that makes one say "You are amazing, Lord, cleanse me and help me to walk in purity."

;) I also remember reading that section and burning all my secular cassette tapes at the time.
