"He listened to Paul talk about believing in Christ Jesus. But Felix became afraid when Paul spoke about living right, self control, and the time when God will judge the world. He said, 'Go away now. When I have more time I will call for you.'" v25

What a classic example of the working and denial of the Holy Spirit. That fine line between wanting to be in control without final responsibility that muddies the waters of truth that are, Christ became responsible for us, and in throwing ourselves upon His mercy, we gain, rather than lose freedom.

2 YEARS! Felix hoped for a bribe and left Paul in jail for 2 years while visiting with him regularly!

Makes me think about how he might have been raised, and how I want my boys to live- not in fear of doing the right thing in the face of danger or pubilc ridicule. How I long for them to be strong and decisive, God-fearing and honoring. I'd better stay down here on my proverbial knees.
