Jeremiah 48

"You trust in the things you do, and your wealth so you will be taken into bondage." v7

Here we have the contrast of what blessed my soul yesterday. Trust in the Lord and be set free, protected, empowered. Trust in yourself and carnal trappings and live in bondage.

You know, it's funny the things we can live in bondage to. Anything we are trusting in, outside the protection and provision of the Lord can easily trap us in a life of misguided devotion.

"So I cry sadly for Moab. For everyone in Moab. I moan for the people...." v31 This pierced my heart. I thought this was God talking, and then had to doublecheck and make sure it wasn't Ezra, but the "I" in v33, 35,38 show clearly that Ezra is speaking the words of the Lord, and not his own. later it says; "My heart cries sadly for Moab." in verse 36.

Even in His judgement and anger, God's heart is torn for the people He created to be in a loving a relationship with, who have turned a deaf ear to Him and who have gone their own way. What love is this.

"But in days to come, I will make good things happen again to Moab," says the Lord. v47

Beautiful.
