How easy it is to rack up enemies for ourselves. Just say something stupid or turn a cold shoulder and who knows what misery is going to be returned in kind, mulitiplied. And yet how simple it is for a kind word, gesture or response to win you a loyal and loving friend for life who will then show grace when you stumble and mercy when you struggle.

No kidding PC!! So absolutely true!

"So they approached Zerubbabel and the other leaders and said, "Let us build with you, for we worship your God just as you do..." (v2).

"These enemies claimed to worship the same God as Zerubbabel and the rest of the Jews. In one sense, this was true; they worshiped God, but they also worshiped many other gods. In God's eyes, this was not worship - it was sin and rebellion. True worship involves devotion to God alone. To these foreigners, God was just another "idol" to be added to their collection. Their real motive was to disrupt the Temple project. Believers today must be aware of those who claim to be Christians but whose actions clearly reveal they are using Christianity to serve their own interests".

Totally agree Denise. I saw that in this chapter too... We have to be careful who we let closely into our circle as far as the spiritual goes.

It is frustrating to read this chapter but I know God has got there back! He said he loves Israel with an everlasting love so what can some trouble makers really accomplish??
