Lost my comment for this, and it was a doozy. Shoot. This chapter looks rather dull on the surface but is a mine of mystery and marvel when read in correlation with Ezekiel's vision of God on the throne, and the initial image of God on the throne in Revelation.

I once did an intense study on this and it is fascinating. The standards of the tribes mirror the faces of the cherubim that surround the throne in heaven. Gives me goosebumps. Everything that was recorded has deep and marvelous secrets that God delights to unveil to us... as such no chapter should be viewed as dull and boring and irrelevant. Love that.
