"The Levites were taken instead of the first-born. When He that made us, saves us, as the first-born of Israel were saved, we are laid under further obligations to serve him faithfully. God's right to us by redemption, confirms the right he has to us by creation." quoted from a commentary on this chapter.

I always found the role of the Levites fascinating! Taking the place of the first born!

"Since there are 273 more firstborn sons than Levites, collect 2 ounces of siler for each of the 273 sons. Use the measure as set by the Holy Place..." v48

Don't shortchange God. That's what hit me from this. God deserves His perfect due. The first of my time, the first of my devotions, the first of my wealth, the first of my works, the first of my comings and goings. It's not about giving Him my leftover change, whatever I feel like mustering. He is GOD. He is my all in all, my life, my breath, my being, my purpose for existence. Does my devotion show it?
