2 Kings 7

"Listen to the Lord's Word." v1

"You will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it." v2 repeated in v19

This made me think of the Israelites standing outside of Canaan. This makes me think of how often I think "I know that God COULD." while doubting that he WOULD. How incredibly small and weak and bound up in humanism our minute (oh so much smaller than a mustard seed) faith is.

That is so sad. But God is so good. And while we look with disdain on our own vile hearts, He shines His grace and love and mercy upon us to show that His grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. If only we surrender these hearts and cry out for Him to redeem them.

Oh to be fully redeemed. Not just rescued from the flame of death, but redeemed for His amazing purposes in the everyday mundane. To worship Him in word and deed, in coming and going, like breathing.

"God, not worthless idols, provides our daily food. Although our faith may be weak or very small, we must avoid becoming skeptical of God's provision. When our resources are low and our doubts are the strongest, remember God can open the flood gates of heaven."

It is amazing from start to finish but the death of the king's assistant was what hit my heart. I am sure that the same doubt would have been found in my heart and in a bold moment, said aloud. My doubt worries me...that it may hinder God...I know he is able to overcome it but he could be so much better seen by me and others if doubt was not there.

I like that, Denise... the floodgates of heaven.

I appreciate God's sense of (I'm not sure... humor?) here. Sending the Arameans running for their lives without any visual proof of attack... in His Almighty Shoes, I would have been busting a gut... especially to see these social outcasts delighting in the plunder.
