Totally struck by verse 21! "This is what the Lord God says: My plans for Jerusalem are much worse! I will send my four terrible punishments against it- war, hunger, wild animals, and disease- to destroy its people and animals."

Sent me back to Revelation 6 that we read on Sunday and the first four seals. verse 3-4 was WAR, 5-6 was HUNGER and 7-8 was WILD ANIMALS, DISEASE AND DEATH.

So often in Ezekiel (and Daniel) we see cross references that give clues back and forth to Revelation and it always gives me incredible goosebumps and chills. When Revelation was written it was written to people who knew the books of the prophets and who would know to look back and get more clarity on what was being referred to, it's like a code and key at times... so utterly fascinating and riveting. Revelation is one of my favorite books of the bible because of the way it is written. Cryptic, but the keys are all there if you know where to look.

This chapter reminds me of the speculating that boys and young men often do... "If Samson, David and my Dad were attacked by a great white, who would win" or "who is the strongest, out of (blank), (blank) and (blank)? God seems to be making a very strong and inarguable point here for the Isrealites. Even the most devout men could not save the people from the consequences of their evil behavior (idolatry).

I like it when you make the correlations, PC.
