Sorry I didn't proof read enough the first time I posted...

We are not to trust in our own abilities and talents... we aren't meant to live to bring acclaim to ourselves. This woman, symbol of Israel, had nothing but was directly given to her from her God (as is the same with all of us, we are and have and will be NOTHING without Jesus Christ) and yet the beauty she was given and the acclaim she was given she used and trusted in and took the glory from God, relying on herself and thus brought disaster on herself. Aren't we all desperate to be noticed for our own abilities, things we see as US, that spell out US, things we easily think of as OURS? When really it is all from God... we should be living deliberately to bring the glory to Christ alone... oh how difficult in this world of SELF... everything is driven by SELF....

If we continue to live for self first we forsake our Lord who has done ALL for us. We can easily make the idols as she did, idols of selfish ambition, and put them ahead of God... after all it seems normal down here and can often feel right.

What an amazing and heavy image/story this prophecy plays out!

Also, was thinking we all have this story... we also all have to dye to self and then can be reconnected to our God and his covenant with us.

Beautifully written. It breaks my heart for God... I forget that he loves on a totally different level than I do & His heart breaks over my rejection or pride or even just forgetfulness of my blessings. How quickly I can beg God for an answer to prayer & then when he grants it I go on my merry little way & forget to thank Him. Everything I have or am is from God & HE alone deserves the praise & glory.

What a chapter. Absolutely gut wrenching. It was so powerful all the way through and ended just as powerfully, "You wil not open your mouth again because of your shame, when I forgive you for all th ethings you have done," says the Lord God.

It reminds me how it is not about US. It is about HIM. It is all about HIM. If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful, because He IS FAITHFUL. If we see God as He truly is, how we can stray?
