Matthew 11

"So John sent some of his followers to Jesus. They asked him, "Are you the ONe who is to come or should we wait for someone else?" v3

What struck me about this was that after receiving the confirmation at the River Jordan, such a strong confirmation as the audible voice of God identifying Jesus as His son, John began to have his doubts.

Life is messy. We are fallen creatures. We fall into doubt and flailings despite God's faithfulness to reveal Himself to us clearly.

I love this verse;

"Accept my teachings and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit, and you will find rest for your lives." v29

"For John the baptist didn't drink wine and he often fasted,and you say,'he's a demon possessed.'And I,the son of man drink and feast,and you say,'he's a glutton and a drunkard,and a friend of the worst sort of sinners!'but wissdom is shown to be right by what results from it."v18-19

it is not wrong to drink some wine and feast,and it is not wrong to fast.if it were wrong to drink wine and feast why did Jesus do it?

I am so glad that you have decided to continue this plan on your blog! Thank you!

Shailey, you are wonderful! Glad to see you here!

I have to say, pulling out my Bible and reading it was really hard today. I haven't read it for quite some time and I kept putting it off. As I was reading my mind kept being bombarded with a million other things! I really need to get back into this so that I can focus more on Jesus and His teachings!

“For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” (v.30)

“In what sense was Jesus’ joke easy? The yoke emphasizes the challenges, work, and difficulties of partnering with Christ in life. Responsibilities weigh us down, even the effort of staying true to God. But Jesus’ yoke remains easy compared to the crushing alternative. Jesus doesn’t offer a life of luxurious ease – the yoke is still an oxen’s tool for working hard. But it’s a shared yoke, with weight falling on bigger shoulders than yours. Someone with more pulling power is up front helping. Suddenly you are participating in life’s responsibilities with a great Partner – and now that frown can turn into a smile, and that gripe into a song.”
