"They did not love their lives so much that they were afraid of death.' v11

This verse made me think of Job 14:5, "Since his days are determined, the number of his months lies with You, and the limit of his days You have set, that he cannot pass them."

What a comfort. To know that our days are numbered and neither we nor anything else can change that. Our lives in in the Lord's hands. Whether we live them out in peace or face persecution... we are in His hands.

This was a powerful reminder to me that Satan actively looks for people to attack. "Satan likes to pursue believers who are vulnerable in their faith, who are spiritually weak, or who are isolated from other believers." I need to work to not fall into those categories. Yes, PC, our lives are definitely in the Lord's hands and that is indeed a comfort!
