"Good people stay away from evil. By watching what they do they protect their lives." v17

This is so true. It is only by careful examination of one's choices and activities that one can choose to detach oneself from choices that are impeding one's spiritual growth (life).

"The wise are known for their understanding. Their pleasant words make them better teachers." v21

and "Wise people's minds tell them what to say, and that helps them be better teachers." v23

We are told elsewhere that wisdom proceeds from the Word of the Lord, and the fear of the Lord. So understanding therefore can only come about when one is familiar with and well versed in the Word of the Lord. Also faith is planted and built in the same manner. On the flip side of this coin, the one who truly understands the Word of the Lord will understand the Love of the Lord, and will be an ambassador of that love which indeed, is a pleasant message.

"Patience is better than strength. Controlling your temper is better than capturing a city." v32

I love this because it is completely contrary to the corporate ladder rat race of the world. The meek will inherit the earth.

what a great chapter, gleaned so much from it this morning and feel equipped to face my day.

Love this book about wise living. God is the source of this wisdom and knowing Him helps us on the way to wisdom. What a challenge for us all.

"Better to be patient than powerful;
better to have self-control than to conquer a city." (v.32)

Ah yes, patience and controlling my temper with my kids - a daily struggle for me.

"Self-control is superior to conquest. Success in business, school, or home life can be ruined by a person who loses control of his or her temper. So it is a great personal vistory to control your temper. When you feel yourself ready to explode, remember that losing control may cause you to forfeit what you want the most."
