Ezekiel 24

"The Lord won’t force us to come to him. We can break his heart and we can make him angry, but he’ll never force us to do the right thing even when it is for our own good. I may not be able to solve the needs of my life but I do have the final say as to whether or not God will be allowed to do so. If I agree, he will go to work, cleaning up the mess I have made. If I refuse, there’s a very real danger than he’ll let me continue down the path I insist on traveling and in so doing, will arrive at the destination I have persisted in reaching."

Pastor Scott Cundiff

I think I'll seek out a study Bible for the notes on this one. Some of it confuses me.

I agree with the sentiment of Cundiff, but I wouldn't choose the words "God will be allowed"... God will do as He chooses... I place limits and consequences on my own life when I don't accept His grace, but I want to be careful that I don't see myself as controlling His power.

great fodder for discussion this. this is actually a very intense concept, the whole one of God doing as He chooses, free will and how they mesh. It can make one's head spin off its axis :)

I guess for me it's not so much the thought of whether I am in control of God's power, but rather one of how God has chosen to LIMIT his own power in correlation to my own will. He's still in control because after all He is the one who chose to set those limits, if that makes sense. If I choose to refute Him, He will not cross over and force me.

I guess the question for me is will God really do as He chooses in all instances? The Bible says that He desires for all men to be saved. He would choose that. But He doesn't force it.

I think that when we truly understand the position that God has created us for, and placed us in; the mandate of a) ruling this creation from a physical standpoint, and b)co-reigning with Christ in the heavenlies from a spiritual one, only then can we see that God has indeed made man only "a little lower than the angels" and we do indeed have a great degree of control over how things play out. It is part of the amazing grace He has bestowed on us, to be co-authors in His story.

But like I said, it's a mind blowing concept. :) and not one that I pretend to have all sorted out by any means. Just questions and thoughts.
