Matthew 20

The story about the laborers, and the account of the sons of Zebedee are both so... typical of us, aren't they? The lie of secular humanism is a sneaky thread that weaves dangerously through our subconscious. This sense of "entitlement"... of pride... of arrogance. Fallen man is not prone to be humble and gracious. And yet the redeemed are called to be. "Are you jealous because I am good to those people?" (v 15), I think the underlying reality is that if He is good to "those" people, we "expect" Him to be even MORE good to us? Ugh. Yes, I do think that's it.

That whole concept of Jesus leaving glory and His position to come down here to the lowliest of caste's and position... to serve... to love... to suffer... to die. That's our model. It's not about attaining, it's about surrendering. What a task is ours.

I got that it is God's right to do as He pleases, and who are we to question it? I'm not sure why, but God's sovereignty is just constantly popping out to me in the chapters we are reading.

I love it when a theme like that becomes clear to us, weaving its way through so many different sections of scripture. Totally see that as you share it. Good stuff!
