Romans 2

The parts that stood out to me the most from this chapter were the parts on not judging and the "He has been very kind and patient, waiting for you to change, but you think nothing of His kindness. Perhaps you do not understand that God is kind to you so you will change your hearts and lives."

The judging part has one that has been my current project in my own life. It has come up in small group study and in my own private conversations with God. The pharisees judged people based on externals and Jesus was very outspoken about that. So often I struggle with judgement of others based on externals. How they dress, what kind of music they listen to, whether they swear or smoke or how much they talk about things that they like (sports, clothes, coffee... whatever). Judgement is a disease, and I don't want to be a carrier.

The second part stood out to me in light of what turned out to be my theme from last week, this theme of watching our behavior BECAUSE we are clothed in Christ's righteousness. It is our duty, as His ambassadors to devote ourselves to righteous living. Not because it makes us righteous, but because He already has. "God is kind to you so you will change your hearts and lives.

"But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter, and his praise is not from men, but from God"
I loved that. I'm praying for that to be true of me.
