"God gives some people the ability to enjoy the wealth and property he gives them as well as the ability to accept their state in life and enjoy their work. They do not worry about how short life is, because God keeps them busy with what they love to do." v19-20

what a gift to have this be true of oneself. It should be a life prayer for all of us.

What a full chapter. The first part is so wise with caution about our speech and how to discern timing. Vs 2 is going above my kitchen sink for a while.
Dave's grandma was talking about how being outside gave her such an appetite, and that reminds me of vs 12... to really work physically hard brings so much satisfaction... when we eat, it is out of appreciation and for real sustenance... I find it a challenge in winter to find that kind of satisfaction.
Contentment, however... God has blessed me so much... this season of my life I am so over-blessed with jobs, time for family and so many good things. I should be easily able to overlook house reno's. :) Praising Him this morning.

vs. 18 - "Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life."
BE CONTENT!! I'm struggling with that this winter. LAB says that we can be content when we realize that in God we have everything we need! Chris, I too have been so over-blessed. I should be able to overlook the things that are causing me to be discontent.

I loved those last two verses too - mine read "For he will not often consider the years of his life, because God keeps him occupied with the gladness of his heart"

I love all your thoughts today.
