Mark 9

What a full chapter! The first thing that jumped out at me was the bleach statement. 'whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them'. :)
Second, can you IMAGINE what it would be like to HEAR the voice of God coming from a cloud? There would be NO doubt left that this Jesus was legit, hey?
And how blessed are we to have the Holy Spirit within us to interpret and clarify and encourage... these guys were told plainly more than a couple times about Jesus' death, but it was "through a glass darkly" that they were understanding.

In Mark the reason Jesus gives for the disciples not being able to drive out the demon was lack of prayer, in Matthew it was faith, in Luke it was not mentioned.

I can never read this passage without thinking of the song "walk down that mountain" from Bebo Norman. The disciples just wanted to stay on that mountain top experience, soaking in the majesty,

It's a better place
Standing high upon this mountain
I've seen your face
Full of the light that only this height can show.

Walk down this mountain
With your heart held high
Follow in the footsteps of your maker
With this love that's gone before you
And these people at your side
If you offer up your broken cup
You will taste the meaning of this life

Well it's a common ground
And I see you're all still standing
But just look around and you'll find
The very face of God
He's walking down into the distance
He's walking down to where the masses are."

I also love "So be full of salt, and have peace with each other." v50
