well I'm not sure which to comment under :)
v9-10 remind me of what we're reading in small group - Desiring God (Piper). Enjoy life and the good things God has given you, but do not sin. Balance.

"Invest what you have, because after a while you will get a return. Invest what you have in several different businesses, because you don't know what disasters might happen." v1

This verse kind of freaked me out this morning. With the chapter starting out like that it was like a real voice speaking to me, since last night was the night that we met with Mennonite Trust to go over our investments and decide what to do with our portfolios for the next year. The timing was just a bit appropriate.... =)

Personally I really loved this verse; "those who wait for perfect weather will never plant seeds; those who look at every cloud will never harvest crops." v4

What I took from this verse was that I am prone to procrastinate. Justify. Make excuses and put things off.

"Plant early in the morning, and work until evening, because you don't know if this or that will succeed. They might both do well." v6

I guess what I am taking from this is to not over think things. Just dig in. Serve. Give of myself and see what harvest God brings.

"Young man,it's wonderful to be young!Enjoy every moment of it.Do everything you want to do;take it all in."v 9

Sometimes we don't enjoy what is happening right know,we are just looking forward to whatever is going to happen in the future, but we should really enjoy the time that we got now. When I look back at things we have done before I realize that I wasn't enjoying myself and I want to go back to that time and enjoy myself.

This chapter is "full". Loved it. When I read some chapters I have to say to God - "What was that all about?" BUT not this one.

PC loved vs 4 too. Maybe that's because I am a farmer. Really liked what LAB said "Waiting for perfect conditions will mean inactivity. This practical insight is especially applicable to our spiritual lives. It we wait for the perfect time and place for personal Bible reading we will never begin. If we wait for a perfect church, we will never join. If we wait for the perfect ministry, we will never serve. Take steps now to grow spiritually. Don't wait for conditions that may never exist.

Young man, be happy while you are still young. Let your heart be joyful while you are still strong. vs 9a

while you are still young you should try to have a joyful heart so that when you grow old you will have some happy memories instead of just sad ones. Elisa
